Child Guidance Center helps Orange County children, teens, and their families achieve healthier, better balanced lives through innovative behavioral and mental health services. Founded in 1967, CGC helps more than 1,000 children and families every week - including veteran and military-connected families - at four independent clinics, as well as at Family Resource Centers throughout the county. CGC’s clinicians and staff members have expertise in many areas, including attention deficit disorder, the autism spectrum, anger management, family struggles, and more.

Children and Family Futures (CFF) is involved in the research and evaluation process that focuses on children of veterans who are no longer on active duty and have been affected by their parent’s deployment.

Families Forward


Families Forward works with homeless families to find realistic solutions for sustainable housing and build individualized plans to return each family to self-sufficiency. A key factor for success is Families Forward’s commitment to collaborate with many organizations to end family homelessness in Orange County. Families Forward also reaches out to low-income families to help reduce the pressures that can cause homelessness and help them maintain their stability. Through various safety-net services, those at-risk are given access to assistance such as an on-site food pantry, counseling, career coaching, and financial and life skills education.

Human Options


Human Options provides a safe haven and life changing programs to help abused women, their children and families rebuild lives. This non-profit organization also works with the community to break the cycle of domestic violence. Services Include:

  • Emergency shelter and transitional housing programs, including: safe housing, counseling, legal advocacy, case management and job readiness training for abused women and their children.
  • Long-term support to help rebuild lives through the Children and Families Counseling Center.
  • Community education for youth (grades 6-12) to inspire a new generation to live free of violence.
  • Violence prevention training programs for business, medical and criminal justice professionals to motivate building a safer community.
Veterans Legal Institute

Veterans Legal Institute


Veterans Legal Institute (VLI) is a military-specific public interest law firm that provides pro bono legal assistance to homeless, at-risk, low-income and disabled veterans and active service members. The non-profit organization works to eliminate barriers to housing, education, employment and healthcare, and fosters self-sufficiency. VLI also advocates on behalf of its clients by providing community education and training in an effort increase awareness, resources, and overall protections to current and former members of the United States military.
